What is Devcon 8?

Devcon is the Ethereum Foundation's conference for developers, researchers and the people who build on the protocol. The eighth edition is in Mumbai, 3 to 6 November 2026, at Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex. The Foundation's own blog described this edition as more focused and intimate than the largest recent Devcons. That is a change of shape, not just a change of city.

Who goes to Devcon 8?

Builders. If you came to raise from generalist funds or to walk a sales floor, this is the wrong week. Researchers, client teams, application developers and the academic track sit at the centre. Road to Devcon university programmes in India are part of how the Foundation is filling the room. Tickets were on sale on the official site when last checked.

Devcon 8 side events

Search Devcon 8 side event or Devcon Mumbai side event and you will find the usual Ethereum pattern: independent summits, client-team meetups and night events in BKC and around Bandra, posted on Luma and on team calendars rather than on devcon.org. The Foundation does not run a TOKEN2049-style thousand-event sheet. Volunteer training is listed for 1 November and on-site work from 2 November, which is useful only if you are staffing. For attendees, the side week is whoever is already in Mumbai for Devcon. Confirm each night on the host's own page. Aspire does not run those nights.

Devcon 8 tickets and costs

General admission is 499 dollars in ETH or 999 in fiat including Indian GST, and the gap between those two is the largest single saving on this page. Discounted tiers exist for India residents at 149, students from 25, and core developers free, all by verification or application and none of them transferable. Tickets go in limited waves. The venue is Jio World Centre, G Block, BKC. Stay in Bandra or BKC. Crossing the city at peak is the expensive mistake. November in Mumbai is after monsoon, still humid. The official map pin is on the Devcon site. Do not use a reseller.

  • General admission, paid in ETH$499

Current wave. The next wave is $599. Paying in ETH is roughly half the fiat price, which is a deliberate choice by the organiser rather than a discount code. devcon.org

  • General admission, paid in fiat$999

Includes 18 per cent Indian GST. Next wave $1,199. If you saw $499 quoted somewhere, that is the ETH price, not the card price. devcon.org

  • India resident$149

Verification required and non-transferable. An India early-bird tier at $99 exists for voucher holders. devcon.org

  • Students$25 Indian, $49 international

International students pay $49 in ETH or $99 in fiat. All student tiers need verification and are non-transferable. devcon.org

  • Core developersFree

By application. Devcon also runs discounted tiers for Ethereum public-goods contributors at $349 and past POAP holders at $449. devcon.org

Getting to Jio World Centre

Jio World Centre is in G Block, Bandra Kurla Complex. From Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport it is short in distance and unpredictable in time; allow an hour at peak for what the map calls twenty minutes. The Mumbai Metro Line 3 stop at Bandra Kurla Complex is the way to avoid that. Crossing from South Mumbai daily is the expensive mistake.

Where to stay for Devcon 8

Bandra Kurla Complex or Bandra itself. BKC puts you walking distance from the venue and among the hotels the conference crowd will fill. Bandra is cheaper, has somewhere to eat after nine, and is a short ride out. Anything in Colaba or Nariman Point looks close on a map and is not, once the traffic is real.

What to know before booking Devcon 8

Devcon is not ETHDenver and it is not TOKEN2049. The Foundation has said this edition is smaller on purpose. If you need a huge side-event circuit, you will have to build it yourself from team calendars. If you need the protocol room, this is the week.

What runs alongside Devcon 8

Named events on their own dates, and in several cases their own tickets. Booking the main days only is how people miss them.

  • Volunteer training and on-site build1 to 2 November 2026

Listed by the organiser for volunteers and staff rather than attendees. Useful only if you are working the event.

Devcon 8: common questions

What is the difference between Devcon and Devconnect?

Devcon is the Ethereum Foundation's own conference, with a stage programme, held roughly every eighteen months. Devconnect is a week of independent, self-organised events with no single main stage. Devcon 8 in Mumbai is the conference. If somebody says they are going to a Devconnect week, that is a different thing entirely.

devcon.org

How much is a Devcon 8 ticket?

$499 paid in ETH, or $999 paid in fiat with 18 per cent Indian GST included. That is not a typo: the fiat price is roughly double. The next wave is $599 in ETH and $1,199 in fiat. India residents pay $149, Indian students $25, and core developers go free by application.

devcon.org

Where is Devcon 8 being held?

Jio World Centre in G Block, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, on 3 to 6 November 2026. The venue is named on the Ethereum Foundation's own announcement rather than on a third-party listing, which matters because this is the first Devcon in India.

Ethereum Foundation blog

Do I need a visa for India?

Most non-Indian passport holders do, and India's e-Visa is issued online in advance rather than on arrival. Apply early: processing is usually days but is not guaranteed, and a conference ticket is not a substitute for a visa. Check the official portal against your own nationality.

Indian e-Visa portal

Are Devcon talks recorded?

Yes. The Ethereum Foundation publishes the full archive after each edition and it is one of the better free resources in the space. If the stage programme is your only reason to travel, watch it instead. The reason to attend is the corridor and the surrounding week.

devcon.org

Is Devcon good for fundraising?

No, and treating it as a fundraising trip is the most common misread. Devcon is a builders' conference: protocol researchers, client teams and application developers. If you want generalist funds and business development, TOKEN2049 is the right room and this is the wrong one.

How often does Devcon happen?

Roughly every eighteen months rather than annually, which is why the gap between editions feels long and why tickets historically move quickly. Mumbai is the eighth edition and the first held in India.
