Anuga by the numbers
Every figure links to where it came from. Attendance for an event that has not happened is a projection, and each row says so rather than presenting it as a count.

What is Anuga?
Anuga is the biennial food and beverage trade fair run by Koelnmesse in Cologne, and on visitor numbers it is the largest food show in the world. The 2027 dates are 9 to 13 October. Like Gulfood it is a sourcing floor rather than a conference: buyers from retail, wholesale and food service placing orders against 8,000-plus exhibiting companies. The 94 per cent international exhibitor share is the number that matters.
Who goes to Anuga?
Retail and wholesale buyers, importers, distributors and food service operators sourcing product, and manufacturers exhibiting to reach them. More than 145,000 trade visitors from over 190 nations attended in 2025. It is strictly trade: this is not a public food festival and admission is credential-based.
Anuga side events
Anuga runs its own conference and awards programme alongside the halls, and Cologne fills with national pavilion receptions and distributor hospitality during the week. Because the fair is divided into distinct trade shows under one roof, much of the informal programme is organised by product sector rather than city-wide. Aspire does not run any of it.
Anuga tickets and costs
Tickets are sold through the official site; no price was published on the pages checked for this entry, so none is quoted here. Anuga is enormous and spans effectively the whole Koelnmesse complex, so identify which of the specialised trade shows you actually need before you arrive. Five days is long, and most trade visitors work two or three of them rather than the full run.
Getting to Koelnmesse
Koelnmesse has its own station, Koeln Messe/Deutz, one stop from Cologne Hauptbahnhof and on the ICE network. Cologne Bonn airport is roughly 15 minutes by train. Dusseldorf and Frankfurt are both straightforward rail connections, which many trade visitors use rather than booking a Cologne hotel.
Where to stay for Anuga
Deutz is on the same side of the Rhine as the halls and walkable to the entrance. The Altstadt across the river is better in the evening and still under 15 minutes away. Anuga is one of the largest fairs Koelnmesse runs and Cologne hotel prices reflect that; commuting in by ICE from Dusseldorf or Bonn is a common and sensible fallback.
What to know before booking Anuga
The biennial cadence is the thing to get right. Anuga runs in odd years and SIAL Paris in even ones, which means the two never clash and the global food trade alternates between Cologne and Paris. A listing showing Anuga in an even year is wrong. The fair is also subdivided into around ten specialised shows - dairy, meat, chilled, fine food and so on - each effectively its own hall.
Anuga: common questions
When is Anuga 2027?
9 to 13 October 2027 at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. Anuga runs biennially in odd-numbered years, alternating with SIAL Paris in even years, so any listing showing an even-year Anuga is incorrect.
How big is Anuga?
The 2025 edition drew more than 145,000 trade visitors from over 190 nations, with over 8,000 exhibiting companies from 110 countries. Koelnmesse described it as the largest in the fair's history. By visitor numbers it is the world's biggest food trade fair.
How much does it cost to attend Anuga?
Ticket prices were not published on the official pages checked when this entry was written, so no figure is quoted here rather than guessing. Tickets are sold through anuga.com, and admission is restricted to trade visitors with credentials.
Who organises Anuga?
Koelnmesse GmbH, the Cologne trade fair company that also runs DMEXCO and gamescom at the same venue. Aspire has no role in organising it. The official site is anuga.com.
Is Anuga open to the public?
No. Anuga is a trade fair for buyers, importers, distributors and food service operators, and admission requires trade credentials. It is not a consumer food festival, and casual visitors without a trade reason to attend will not be registered.
Should I go to Anuga or SIAL Paris?
They alternate, so in practice the calendar decides. Anuga runs in odd years in Cologne and SIAL Paris in even years. Both are European sourcing floors of comparable scale; exporters targeting EU retail generally work whichever falls in their planning year.
