What is Pitti Uomo?

Pitti Uomo is the menswear trade fair held twice a year at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, run by Pitti Immagine. The January 2027 edition is number 111, running 12 to 15 January. It is important to be clear about what it is: a buying fair where brands show collections to retail buyers, not a runway fashion week. The street-style photography that makes it famous is a by-product, not the event.

Who goes to Pitti Uomo?

Menswear brands exhibiting collections, and retail buyers, department store teams, distributors and agents placing orders for the following season. Press and the street-style photography circuit attend in volume and generate most of the coverage, which is why the fair's public image is rather different from its commercial function.

Florence fills with brand presentations, dinners and showroom appointments across the city during the fair, many of them in palazzi and private spaces rather than at the Fortezza. Pitti Immagine also runs a guest designer programme with its own events. A great deal of the actual business happens in appointments away from the fair floor. Aspire does not run any of it.

Getting to Fortezza da Basso

The Fortezza da Basso is a short walk from Firenze Santa Maria Novella, Florence's main station, which puts it about 90 minutes from Milan and 100 from Rome by high-speed rail. Florence's own airport is small; Pisa and Bologna are the usual alternatives, both under an hour and a half by train or bus.

Where to stay for Pitti Uomo

Anywhere in central Florence works, because the city is small and the Fortezza is walkable from the station and the historic centre. January is low season for tourism, so rates are far more reasonable than the fair's profile would suggest. Book near Santa Maria Novella if you want the shortest walk.
