What is Web Summit Rio?

Web Summit Rio is the Latin American edition of Web Summit, held at Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro. The 2027 dates are 14 to 17 June. At more than 40,000 attendees it is South America's largest technology conference and considerably bigger than Web Summit's North American event in Vancouver. It is the practical route into the Brazilian and wider LATAM market for founders and investors based elsewhere.

Who goes to Web Summit Rio?

Brazilian and Latin American founders, regional and international venture investors, corporate innovation teams and a large press contingent. The official figures are 1,500-plus startups and 700-plus investors. Because LATAM venture activity concentrates heavily in Brazil and Mexico, this event covers a disproportionate share of the region's ecosystem in one place.

Web Summit Rio side events

Rio fills that week with investor breakfasts, national delegation events and startup parties, concentrated around Barra da Tijuca near the venue and in Ipanema and Leblon. Web Summit runs its own official night programme as it does at every edition. Aspire does not run any of those nights.

Tickets are sold through the official site, which was advertising a 50 per cent flash sale when this page was last checked, though no standard tariff was displayed alongside it, so no net price is quoted here. June is winter in Rio, which means mild and dry rather than cold, and is one of the better months to be there. Riocentro is a long way from the beach districts.

Getting to Riocentro

Rio's Galeao international airport is around 45 minutes to an hour from Riocentro depending on traffic, and Santos Dumont is closer to the city centre but further from the venue. The BRT TransOeste and TransCarioca lines serve Barra da Tijuca. Traffic in Rio is genuinely heavy, so build in more time than the distance suggests.

Where to stay for Web Summit Rio

Barra da Tijuca is nearest the venue and where a large share of attendees stay, though it is a suburban district rather than a destination. Ipanema, Leblon and Copacabana are far more enjoyable and add an hour each way in traffic. The trade-off is real and worth deciding deliberately rather than by default.

What to know before booking Web Summit Rio

Riocentro is in Barra da Tijuca, roughly an hour from Copacabana and Ipanema in traffic. That commute is the single biggest practical factor in planning the week, and it is why many attendees stay in Barra despite the beach districts being more appealing. Web Summit's app-based meeting system does most of the useful work here, as at every edition.
