What is San Diego Comic-Con?

Comic-Con International is the largest pop culture convention in the United States, held at the San Diego Convention Center each July. The 2027 dates are 22 to 25 July with Preview Night on the 21st. It reaches this directory because of what surrounds it: the convention is where film, television and games studios market their properties, and the week has become one of the most concentrated entertainment-industry gatherings anywhere.

Getting to San Diego Convention Center

The Gaslamp Quarter and the waterfront hotels put you inside the footprint, and those are allocated through a room lottery that fills. Mission Valley and Old Town are cheaper and connected by trolley. Rates across the city rise sharply for the week, so the lottery is worth entering even if you would rather choose freely.

What to know before booking San Diego Comic-Con

Do not book travel before you hold a badge. The lottery means attendance is genuinely uncertain until it resolves, and San Diego hotel rates in Comic-Con week rise to a level that makes speculative booking expensive. If your interest is professional rather than fan, a large share of the useful activity happens in the Gaslamp Quarter rather than on the exhibit floor.
