What is bauma?
bauma is the construction and mining machinery trade fair held at Messe Muenchen every three years, and by exhibition floor area it is the largest trade fair in the world. The next edition runs 3 to 9 April 2028. It is a machine fair in the most literal sense: excavators, cranes and drilling rigs are brought to Munich and assembled on open-air ground, which is why it needs a footprint nothing else in this directory approaches.
Who goes to bauma?
Construction and mining equipment manufacturers exhibiting, and contractors, plant hire firms, fleet buyers, dealers and distributors sourcing. It is heavily international and heavily technical, and the buying decisions involved are large and infrequent, which is part of why the fair runs on a three-year cycle rather than annually.

Manufacturers run their own launches, dealer conferences and hospitality across Munich during the week, and for the largest exhibitors the fair is the centre of a multi-day customer programme rather than a stand. Little of that appears publicly. Aspire does not run any of it.

Getting to Messe Muenchen
Messe Muenchen in Riem is served by U-Bahn line U2 at Messestadt West and Messestadt Ost, roughly 25 minutes from the city centre. Munich Airport is about 40 minutes to the centre by S-Bahn. The same fairground hosts IAA MOBILITY's trade summit.
Where to stay for bauma
Central Munich on the U2 line, or the eastern suburbs nearer the fairground. Because bauma is triennial and enormous, Munich fills completely and rates rise accordingly; commuting in from Augsburg, Ingolstadt or Nuremberg by rail is common when the city is gone.
What to know before booking bauma
The three-year cadence is the thing to get right. bauma ran in 2025 and returns in 2028, so a listing showing 2026 or 2027 is simply wrong. Because it only comes round every three years the accommodation squeeze is severe even by Munich standards, and exhibitors book years rather than months ahead.
